Senior Ministries

We have a large and exciting senior adult group here in the Vancouver First Church of God family.  We are very involved in the many ministries of the church, serving as board members, ushers, greeters, teachers, musicians in worship, as well as in visitation, hospitality and prayer groups, to name a few.  We offer programs and activities designed to meet the needs of senior adults:

Faith-building and Discipleship

Adult Bible Fellowship classes meet on Sundays, providing solid Bible teaching in various venues.  Among them are the Friendship Bible Class in Room 120 and the Bible Explorers in the Fireside Room, both at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study at 7:00 p.m. offers a time of prayer, worshipful singing and a discussion of scripture application from Sunday’s message.

Many Small Group Bible Studies meet in homes throughout the week, giving opportunity to for more personal connection as people grow together spiritually.

Fellowship and Outreach

P.E.P. (People Enjoying People) group meets the first Friday of every month at 6:30 pm. Enjoy a potluck dinner and time of fun and fellowship. This is an excellent time to make new friends from the church.

J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) meets every third Tuesday of the month at noon for a potluck dinner and a well-planned program. Several outings and excursions are planned throughout the year.

C.O.G. Wheelers  travel in their RV's and enjoy each other's fellowship. They also take on work projects each year at Christian camps, small churches and in the homes of needy families.

The annual Seniors Retreat is held at Cannon Beach on April 8-10, 2008. We have excellent speakers, great food, and fellowship to inspire and encourage us.
