New Commandment Ministry – This ministry puts into action Jesus’ words, “A new commandment I give unto you.  That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this shall all men know you are my disciples, if you have love one to another” (John 13:34-35).  First, it teaches you how Christ has loved you, then you take that understanding to love others as Christ loved you.  This begins within our church giving care to elderly, single parents, or those with long term illness.  Over time this ministry usually will end up with 2/3 of the care within the church and 1/3 of the care outside the church.  This is not your typical service ministry, the most important thing to those receiving care will be the love shown to them.  We would be returning to the same person’s home monthly, this is a relational/team ministry not a project ministry.  The commitment is for once a month for 3 hours.  It will be a set Saturday per month when all members go out from 7:00 – 10:00 am.  There would be one hour of devotions with short task assignments and 2 hours at the home.  The groups would usually consist of four people, but no less than two.  Tasks could include cleaning, organizing, trouble shooting, light repairs, maintenance, teaching life skills, research, ministering to them and/or their children, encouragement and reaching out to their neighbors.  For more information contact Mark Nelson at mark.nelson@hotmail.com.
