Community Learning For Life

Community Learning For Life classes are designed as a resource to the community because we value helping others grow and develop personally as well as spiritually. Courses are offered during the week in various practical skills and hobbies, usually free of charge.  They are presented by leaders who have a passion to share their skills and expertise for the benefit of others.

Leadership & Social Networking

» J.O.Y Fellowship Potluck
If you are over 55 years of age, join the fun and camaraderie of “Just Older Youth”. Bring a dish to share as you enjoy special entertainment and get to know someone new. Community Life Center, Cafeteria. 3rd Tuesday of the month, 12 noon.

» MOR: Mothers Outreach & Renewal
Moms from the church and the community can gather to recharge twice a month in this get-together for moms of any age. As they share a brunch they will enjoy an inspirational speaker and learn about community activities and volunteer opportunities. Childcare is provided. Church Building, Fireside Room. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 9:30 – 11:30 am.

» Next Connexion Visiting Support
Join a group of people who are learning the art of visiting shut-ins and those in care facilities. Once a month they meet to tell of their visiting experiences, share ideas and encourage each other. Church Building, Room 116. 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:00 pm.

» Toastmasters: Speakers With Spirit
Since 1924, Toastmasters has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. With its learn-by-doing program in a supportive environment, Toastmasters will give you the skills you need to effectively formulate and express your ideas in any situation. Community Life Center, Room 6236. Wednesdays, ongoing, 7:00 pm.

Art & Hobbies

» Quilting
Help to quilt simple baby quilts for new mothers who visit the Giving Closet, our clothing outreach to the community. Church Building, Room 120. 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

» Woodcarving
A band of woodcarvers gather informally to practice their craft. Bring your tools (if you have any) and join them. They are willing to teach those who want to learn. Community Life Center, Room 5150. Tuesday mornings, ongoing, 9:00 am to 12 noon. Not meeting during the month of August.

» Alcoholics Anonymous
You will encounter life-changing support in this tried and true program for those recovering from substance dependence. Join at any time. Wednesdays, ongoing, 7:00 pm. Community Life Center, Room 5160.

» DivorceCare
Find help and healing for the hurt of separation and divorce as those who understand walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Workbook is $14. Church Building, Room 404. Sunday, April 6 – July 6, 11:00 am.

Education

» All Church Bible Study
Everyone is invited for a time of prayer, worshipful singing, and a discussion of how to personally apply the scriptures from Sunday’s sermon. Church Building, Fireside Room. Wednesdays, ongoing, 7:00 pm.

» Financial Peace University
Get a secure grip on your finances in this uplifting, video-based personal finance program by radio personality Dave Ramsey. The current 13-week session is full.  Please inquire about a future session at the church office. Community Life Center, Room 5151, Wednesday, June 18 - September 10, 6:00 pm.

» Memory Loss Support Group
Are you caring for a loved one who has dementia or Alzheimer’s? Come and be supported through this difficult journey by others who understand. Church Building, Fireside Room. 1st Monday of the month, 2:00 pm.

» Men’s Bible Study
Experience an in-depth look at the Five Solas, the five Latin slogans that articulated the fundamental beliefs of the Protestant Reformation. Using R.C. Sproul's book, "God Alone", you will examine what the Reformers considered essentials of Christian life and practice. All men are invited. Church Building, Room 203. Wednesdays, ongoing, 7:00 pm.

» Women’s Evening Bible Study
To Live is Christ by Beth Moore is a video-driven study of the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul.  It presents fascinating bible truths to help Christians gain a new appreciation of servanthood.  Workbook cost is $18. Church Building, Room 121. Wednesday, April 30 - August 17, 6:00 pm.

Community Learning classes provide the perfect atmosphere in which to invite your friends who may not normally come to church.  It is our hope and prayer that our community will experience the warmth of our fellowship and the excitement that is found when one Lives to Learn and Learns to Live!
